Australian native and British citizen, Nancy Wake, was an amazing women that was active as a British Spy and military commander from 1936-1945. She took on four different roles, all the time hunted by the Nazis while working for the French Resistance.
It is an amazing story, told with such fantastic prose to describe everything. It made me hate when she hated, feel nauseated when it was warranted and despair when needed. I have read a lot of WW2 Historical fiction and this is the first time I was in the thick of it, not as a librarian, or a dressmaker, or a code breaker. This woman’s had bravery and red lipstick. It was a different feeling to be in the thick of it. I could not put this book down. And I was anxiously waiting for the Authors Note to tell me that most of it was made up, and apparently it wasn’t!
Totally enjoyed this book! Highly recommend!
