The Diamond Eye

Kate Quinn | Historical Fiction | 5⭐️  | William Morrow

Kate Quinn does it again with an amazing story of a Russian Female Sniper, Mila Pavlichenko. A single mom, a student studying history, and a certified marksman, she volunteered for the Russian Army the day the War was announced. This book provides a look at our Russian Allies during WW2 and the effort to pull America into the war.

Quinn expertly intertwines history and fiction hitting that sweet spot of an engaging story that teaches you just a little more than you knew before starting the book. She creates an amazing sense of place with at least one scene that has lived rent free in my head since I read it over 2 years ago. This is am amazing look at WWII from a new perspective that I really appreciated. And to top it off, it is still one of my favorite covers!
